al-Qaradawi ej välkommen till UK
Brittiska myndigheter har vägrat ge inresevisum till den egyptenfödde muslimske prästen Yusuf al-Qaradawi. Något som lett till protester bland Storbritanniens muslimer:
The Muslim Council of Britain responded by terming the decision "deplorable," saying the government had caved in to unreasonable demands spearheaded by the leader of the Conservative Party David Cameron, who last week called Al-Qaradawi "dangerous and divisive, " and called on the government not to allow him an entry visa.
"This decision will send the wrong message to Muslims everywhere about the state of British society and culture," said Muhammad Abdul Bari, secretary-general of the Muslim Council. Mohammed Shafiq, of Muslim youth organization the Ramadhan Foundation, also criticized the decision [...].
Vem är då Yusuf al-Qaradawi? Varför bli upprörd över att han nekas visum? Så här skriver BBC:
He has consistently defended Palestinian suicide attacks against Israelis. [...] He said hundreds of other Islamic scholars are of the same opinion. In this respect, he is very much in tune with what the vast majority of people in the Arab world believe.
Följande uttalanden tillskrivs a-Qaradawi:
- "I consider this type of martyrdom operation as an evidence of God's justice. "
- "Allah Almighty is just; through his infinite wisdom he has given the weak a weapon the strong do not have and and that is their ability to turn their bodies into bombs as Palestinians do"
